Poor video quality due to blocky-ness, dropped frames, or a frozen screen can be caused by a variety of software or hardware issues. Here are the main causes of these issues:

Uniform Sierra QGC Installation Issue (ASUS ROG ALLY ONLY) |
An issue may have arisen in your instance of our QGC software, the UI you interface with to use the aircraft. A reliable installation of this software is critical for effective operations. |
1. In the controllers toolbar, search for “Add or remove programs”. and, click the suggested option. |
- In this tool search for “Uniform Sierra QGroundControl”.
- Right Click on “Uniform Sierra QGroundControl” and click uninstall. This will remove the application from the controller and allow for a clean re-installation.
- Go back to the search bar and type in “File Explorer”.
- Navigate to “This PC” on the left hand side. Then select the “OS (C:)” drive.
- You will see a folder labeled “uniformsierrasyssetup” go into that folder and run the application “UniformsierraQGroundControl-installer”. |
| Out of Date Windows Installation | Over time the Windows platform may develop bugs with the driver system that interfaces the computer with our radio package. | 1. Ensure you are connected to Wi-Fi and plugged into power.
- Go to the search bar and type in “check for updates”.
- Once this page opens the updates will start automatically downloading and installing.
- Wait for EVERYTHING to fully download, depending on internet speed and time between the last update these updates may take a long time (+1hr) it's ok for the device to sleep/turn off the screen.
- Once all the updates are completed you will likely be prompted to restart the device.
For the large device updates it generally will take you to the bios (the back end control panel all PC’s have to initially set it up) and give you a pop up saying the bios needs an update.
- Allow the update to take place, this usually takes less than 15 minutes.
- Once the device restarts again it should take you to the lock screen where you can sign in again.
- Important: Go back to the update center and pause updates for 5 weeks. It's also recommended that you forget the Wi-Fi network to prevent unexpected updates during critical operations. |
| Hardware issues | Damage to the radio modem due to extended operation of the radio package without antenna, damage due to overheating in hot environments, or damage to the aircraft from a crash can cause the radio link to lose integrity. | If the aircraft still shows these issues there is a chance there is damage to the system and will require repair in our facility. |
Note After re-installing the app, the shortcut on the desktop may become inactive, you can move this to the recycling bin. You can re-add a shortcut by doing the following:
1. In the search bar type in “Uniform”.
2. Uniform Sierra QGroundControl should appear as an app.
3. Click open file location.
4. There should be 3 files in this location. One of them won't have parenthesis, select that one's check box.
5. Long press on the file [if using the touchscreen] (if you’re using a mouse simply right click).
6. Select “Show more options”.
7. Select “Send to” and “Desktop (create shortcut)”.
