Position mode failures can be related to a few things that can be common during the normal life pattern of the aircraft, namely:

Potential source Causes What to inspect for
Environment Blank walls, empty rooms, large spaces (theater, gymnasiums, ect), reflective surfaces, and outdoor spaces*. Arrowhead does well in environments that contain objects for the tracking camera to accurately identify the position of the aircraft relative to those objects.
Blocked Tracking Camera Dust, grime, smudges can populate on the tracking camera during the lifecycle of the aircraft, this can cause the positioning system to lose clarity of its environment. Visually inspect the lens for smudges or damage. Use a microfiber cloth (similar to a pair of glasses), or an alcohol wipe to clean the lens.
Abnormal Vibrations Damage to the propellers, damage to the carbon fiber frame, loss of screws in the motors or motor protectors can cause abnormal vibrations in the system which can be an issue for the positioning system. Inspect for damage on the carbon fiber frame of the aircraft, and the outer motor ducts. Damage to the outer motor ducts can be repaired in the field using the provided drivers. Damage to the main carbon frame must be fixed in our facility, however temporary fixes like electrical tape or glue can be used in a pinch but are not recommended. Inspect the screws, ensure there are no missing screws in the outer ducts or the motor mounts, and ensure all screws are properly tightened. Inspect the propellers, ensure the integrity of the propellers as small chips and scratches can be enough to cause vibration in the system. If damage is found replace these propellers as soon as possible.
Poor Lighting Damage to the LEDs can cause the positioning system to fail in dark environments due to a lack of light. Damage to the front LEDs will need to be fixed in our facility.

*For outdoor flying you will need to place the drone into the Altitude or Stabilized flight mode.
